I know what it feels like to not want to get out of bed in the morning. When you are in so much pain as a result of many different illnesses, it’s difficult to want to get up in the morning and continue another day. My story is filled with many chapters of health problems, but thankfully because of my medications, I’ve been able to turn my challenges into happy and healthy endings…As a teenager, I developed a thyroid problem but was able to regulate that through medicine. As I got older and had to deal with more stress in my life, I developed high blood pressure. Then came the sleep apnea, which is a sickness that makes me overwhelmingly tired if I don’t take my medicine to control it. All these things over the course of a couple of years really got me depressed. Like I said, it just became really hard to live when I didn’t have the medicine to control it all.

I’m so glad that I’ve been able to control my health issues because even though I’ve retired from my career, I have embarked upon a new path—My husband and I adopted my grandson and continue to raise him today. He brings joy to our life, and now that I’m healthy, I can really enjoy each moment.
