I live a quiet life in a senior development, now that my son is all grown up. He son is 32 now and married with a six-year old son, who I just love to pieces. However, in the blink of an eye, I almost left my family all too early, when I had a stroke in 2005. To make matters worse, after the stroke I found out that I have Type II diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure. I was devastated and so depressed when leaving the hospital that not only had my life almost been cut short by my stroke, but that my life had been forever changed because I would now also have to cope with additional life-threatening conditions.

Thankfully the nurses and doctor were so nice and caring. They helped me to figure out what medicines I needed and lifestyle changes I could make to live a more healthy life. I now take medicines to control my cholesterol and high blood pressure, and insulin to manage my diabetes.Thank goodness for my prescription medicines I take every day and the care I received that the hospital because with out both of those things, I would most likely not be here today. The entire experience was so devastating and frightening. But, this trauma has made me value my life and the people around me more than ever. It is just a miracle that I am getting stronger, healthier and better every day!
