My love for my family is matched only by my love for the outdoors. I try to lead an active life by being outside in the sunshine and working in my garden. I suffer from a variety of ailments that, if untreated, threaten to keep me inside and on my couch for the rest of my life!I take five different medications for my conditions, which affects every aspect of my life. I have high blood pressure, which requires me to take medication to avoid having a stroke. My restless leg syndrome keeps my legs kicking all night and I wake up exhausted. Acid reflux prevents me from enjoying virtually every yummy food….even tomatoes!.
For a while, I could not afford my medications regularly and ended up in the hospital. The irregular schedule was affecting my body’s ability to get used to the medicines when I was finally able to obtain them. My entire life was thrown into chaos! I couldn’t exercise because of the high blood pressure, so I sat on the couch all day. I couldn’t sleep at night because of the constant kicking of my legs and my diet was so incredibly strict because of my acid reflux.
Thankfully, I am involved in a program that gets me my medications on a regular basis. Not having to worry about my medicines is a tremendous load off my shoulders and has saved my life. I get up every morning smiling with energy because of a good night’s sleep and can work in my garden and run around with the children I care for. Most importantly, I can eat all of the foods I love and not have to worry about getting sick.
These medicines have given me a normal life and I am so incredibly grateful that there are people out there creating wonderful drugs to help people. They have completely turned my world around and help so many people. I can’t thank them enough for making it so that I can live my life again!
