I’m a 41 year old man who has been living with diabetes since I was 10 years old. Diabetes runs in my family. In fact, I used to help my grandmother fix her needle and to take her shot of insulin many times while growing up. She lived a long life; in fact, she lived to be 85 years old. I also have a sister and a younger brother that have Type 1 diabetes.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Being that I’m a commercial driver I was scared that this disease could impact my career. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to do my job, or take care of my family. I was afraid that if I had to take insulin shots, I could lose my license to drive a commercial vehicle.
But thanks to the new and innovative pharmaceuticals that have been developed to treat this life-threatening disease, I’m able to protect my health and take care of my family. Because of the new treatments available for the aliments that I have, life can go on.
To all the men and women that help to make the new drugs for diseases, I SALUTE YOU!!
